Colnbrook and Poyle Flood Alleviation Scheme

Brief

To work with the district and parish councils to reduce flood risk in an historic village centre.

Details

Extensive public consultation was undertaken to establish the project priorities and gain information about recent flood events.  Working closely with community groups and residents the multi-disciplinary team designed a bypass channel to accommodate flood water and to also act as a new recreational resource in an existing open space.

The scheme was designed to minimise the loss of mature trees within the village and to protect the habitat of the rare pea mussel.
