Sutton Courtenay Cemetery

Brief

To work with the Parish Council to design a rural, non-denominational burial site.

Details

Working with the Vale of White Horse District Council Thirlwall Associates created an innovative design with the atmosphere of a cemetery without using religious references.

An oak motif was used to tie together the elements of the site.  Custom clay pavers were embossed with an oak leaf design and an oak leaf detail was included in the bespoke gates.

The design was linked to the original church cemetery by matching the design of the distinctive stone boundary wall.
